Care Guide

Every Sills + Co piece is carefully designed and wash/wear tested by our team, so with the right care and attention, it will be a favourite in your wardrobe for years to come.

We have compiled some helpful advice on how to best look after your clothes and practical care tips to extend the life of your garments.

Knitwear
Caring for your knitwear correctly will allow you to enjoy your beautiful Sills + Co garments season after season.

Wool is a living fiber and reacts to its environment. Pilling on wool is normal and usually forms on the areas of greatest friction as the loose fibers disperse, and contrary to popular belief, does not reflect on the quality. You can remove any pills with our Sills + Co Depiller Comb

We recommend spot cleaning with wool wash when possible, but for a deeper clean gentle hand-wash, inside out, with cool water and wool wash. To dry, roll in a towel and press the water out then reshape and dry flat in the shade. You can steam or press gently through a damp cloth if necessary.

Always store your woolen garments lying flat, away from direct sunlight. Moths and silverfish attack natural fibers, especially wools! They are attracted to unwashed garments, so keeping your woolens clean will help to protect it. You can also use lavender and cedarwood to repel these pests.

Delicates
Taking special care of your delicate fabrics, like silk and viscose, will ensure they look and feel beautiful for a long time.

We highly recommend dry cleaning your delicate garments for the best result.
However, you can gently handwash, inside out in cool water with a gentle detergent. Never soak your delicates as this damages the fabric, Air dry in the shade or indoors, avoid direct sunlight as this may fade the colour. Never tumble dry your delicates.

To remove any creases, steaming your delicates will give the best result. Viscose needs to be steamed or gently ironed after washing as the steam allows the fabric to grow, 3-5% shrinkage after washing is a normal trait of Viscose.

Denim
Be kind to your Sills + Co denim garments to ensure many happy years of wear.
For denim, it’s best to wash denim as little as possible—not only to prevent shrinking and fading, but also to conserve water and lessen the impact on the environment.

Refresh items between wears by airing them outside, ironing on the reverse, or steaming them. For small stains, spot clean with laundry detergent and leave to air dry.

For deeper cleaning, turn your denim inside out to reduce colour fade and wash on a cool cycle with like-colours. Ensure your wash is not overloaded to allow garments to move freely for a thorough wash, and to avoid uneven colour settling.

Dark denim can transfer to light colours when new so take care when in contact with lighter clothing, accessories or furniture.
